Privacy & GDPR

Do I need a cookie consent banner to use Selgeo?

No. Selgeo tracks referrals server-side and stores the click identifier in the browser’s sessionStorage — never in a cookie, and with no fingerprinting. There is nothing for a consent banner to ask about.

Where is my data stored?

In the EU — our infrastructure runs in Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Data residency is part of the design, not an add-on.

Is Selgeo GDPR-compliant out of the box?

Yes. A Data Processing Agreement is generated automatically when you connect Stripe, and both you and your partners get self-service data export (Art. 15 and 20) and erasure (Art. 17) with an audit trail.

Can my partners export or delete their own data?

Yes. Partners can export and delete their personal data themselves from the partner portal — no support ticket required.

Attribution & tracking

How does cookieless attribution work?

A lightweight JavaScript snippet captures the click identifier in sessionStorage and passes it to Stripe through payment metadata. Conversions are matched server-side via Stripe webhooks, using last-touch attribution within a window you configure per programme.

Can I see why a particular commission was attributed?

Yes. Every conversion has an attribution audit log entry explaining the decision in plain language — which link or promo code won, the window check, and the rule applied. Merchants see the full technical detail; partners see a simplified explanation.

What happens when a visitor uses an ad blocker?

Because attribution is server-side rather than cookie-based, it isn’t affected by ad blockers, Safari ITP, or shrinking cookie lifetimes the way traditional affiliate tracking is.

Setup

How long does it take to get started?

Most teams go from connecting Stripe to a first live programme in under 10 minutes: connect Stripe, set your commission rules, and add one script tag to your site.

What do I need before I start?

A Stripe account and the ability to add one script tag to your website. That’s it for the snippet-only setup.

Does Selgeo work with Stripe Checkout and Payment Links?

Yes — the snippet works with Stripe Checkout and Payment Links automatically. If you call the Stripe API directly you pass the click identifier in metadata, and for non-Stripe goals (sign-ups, form submissions) there is a Conversion API.

Is there a way to test before going live?

Yes. Test mode is a full sandbox using your Stripe test keys — programmes, partners, clicks, attribution, commissions and simulated payouts, all isolated from your live data, with a reset button.

Where is the documentation?

The developer docs, integration guides and API reference live at docs.selgeo.com.

Pricing & billing

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 14 days with full access and no credit card required.

Do you take a cut of my revenue?

No. There is no revenue cut and no payout surcharge — you keep what your programme earns.

What counts as an “active partner”?

An active partner is an approved partner who generated at least one click in the last 90 days. Partners with no clicks in 90+ days don’t count toward your plan limit — you’re never charged for partners who aren’t pulling weight.

Commissions & payouts

What kinds of commission can I set?

Percentage or flat amounts, calculated on gross or net revenue (your choice per programme), including recurring commissions on subscription renewals.

What happens to a commission if the customer gets a refund?

A full refund cancels the related commission automatically, so you don’t pay out on revenue you returned.

How do payouts work?

Payouts are processed manually in v1.0: export a CSV with amounts, partner details, a VAT breakdown and reverse-charge flags, then pay through your usual channel. You can set a minimum payout threshold per partner.
